Phil studiedVersion 2 musical theatre at Pendleton College in his home city of Manchester before moving south to study music at the University of Chichester. He graduated with a first class BMus (Hons) degree in
Music Performance and specialised in voice and piano. Upon completion of his degree, Phil worked as Musical Director/Arranger/ Composer for a production of Antigone at The Arts Educational Schools
London. He went on to work for Youth Music Theatre UK as Assistant Musical Director for Triptych (The MAC, Belfast) and then as Musical Director for Fiddler on the Roof at the University of Portsmouth.

Phil regularly works for Chichester Festival Theatre as Musical Director for their Youth Dance Company and Musical Theatre Choir. Theatre credits at C.F.T. include: Assistant Musical Director for Roald Dahl’s The Witches (Minerva Theatre) and Keyboard 2 for The One Hundred and One Dalmatians (Festival Theatre). Other credits include: Children’s MD for Jesus Christ Superstar UK Tour (Congress Theatre), Workshop MD for Rita Hayworth: Remember Me? with Rula Lenska, Musical Director for A Clockwork Orange (Brighton Fringe), An Old Fashioned Girl (Bedford and Clapham Fringe), and Keyboard 2 for The Jungle Book (Brighton Emporium). Phil is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Chichester.
