NOVEMBER MASTERCLASS- Unarmed Stage Combat With Bethan Clark

Our second masterclass is just around the corner, and this time we’ll be exploring the world of Stage Combat! Join Fight Director and Action Coordinator Bethan Clark for a day long workshop that will teach you different stage combat techniques.

TIME: 11am-5pm

About the facilitator:

Bethan Clark is a Fight Director and certified stage/screen combat Instructor with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.Recent credits include: The Bolds at The Unicorn, Our Lady of Blundellsands at Liverpool Everyman and Snowflakes for Dissident Theatre.This full day workshop will introduce and explore the fundamental elements that create safe, repeatable and convincing unarmed combat for stage.
We will explore and experience principles and moves that we can then use to put together a short sequence of action to share at the conclusion of the day.

The workshop will explore:

How to throw a convincing attack. Examples will include a punch, slap or kick – How to play believable reactions- How to work with a partner to sell convincing actions- How to fall over – Incorporating different styles of fighting from slapstick to superheroes.- How we can present and perform fight action to tell different narratives and stories 

What to bring:

Water as we will be getting active!- Wear movement friendly clothes: tracksuit bottoms, trainers and t-shirt are ideal. -The methodology behind all stage combat is designed to manage pre existing conditions, everything can be modified to the individual

Masterclasses are open to all of OETC participants who have attended at least 3 months of any of our activities including Drop-in Drama, Write Now, Women’s Drama Group and Moving Recovery. You do not need to be an Edge Two member.
