Outside Edge aims to change the lives of people affected by chemical addiction through theatre and drama.
We are the only theatre company working nationally on theatre and performance focused specifically on tackling addiction and substance misuse.
Set up in 1998 by Creative Director Phil Fox, himself an actor and a former addict, the work of the company builds from Phil’s own experience of theatre leading to recovery from addiction. The company continues to work from the premise that engaging in performance and exploring issues through interactive drama has the ability to bring about positive change in the lives of people affected by drug or alcohol addiction.
Through our work we support people affected by chemical addiction to reach and recognise their potential, find an identity and build skills and confidence in order to support recovery at all stages.
Additionally, the company provides theatre productions of new work and training for professionals.
“Outside Edge produces artistically excellent work that challenges and entertains audiences at the same time as making a real difference. Edge’s work with addicts – and the ways in which their performances awaken audiences and provoke debate – is quite simply stunning.”
—Jimmy Page, company patron.
