Outside Edge Theatre Company appoints Ricardo de Lacerda Ferreira as new General Manager

Outside Edge Theatre Company—the UK’s only theatre company focused on addiction—is
thrilled to announce that Ricardo de Lacerda Ferreira will become the new General
Manager in August 2018.

Ricardo is an experienced human rights lawyer and arts manager. His experience includes
Human Development Assistant for the United Nations Development Programme in Brazil
(2009), Consultant in Citizenship, Public Safety and Human Rights for the United Nations
Development programme (2011), Electoral Officer for the United Nations Integrated
Mission in Timor-Leste (2012), Human Rights Officer for the United Nations Stabilisation
Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (2013-2015) and Knowledge Manager for the
United Nations’ International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth in Brazil (2015-2017).
Whilst working in the Democratic Republic of Congo he led a participatory theatre project
with former child soldiers and women victims of gender-based violence using Forum
Theatre. This inspired him to pursue his Masters in Arts Administration and Cultural Policies
at Goldsmiths University of London. As part of his degree, Ricardo completed an internship
at The Corner Shop, which is an arts sector public relations firm.

Ricardo de Lacerda Ferreira says: “Outside Edge is a zippy, passionate combination of
theatre and recovery maintenance activities which delivers heart touching productions. I
am very excited to work with Matt to continue to deliver this beautiful testament of Phil
Fox’s visionary project.”

Matt Steinberg says: “I am thrilled to have Ricardo join us at Outside Edge. With his
background delivering theatre workshops for the UN, he brings a refreshing international
perspective to our programme of work. In this exciting period of change for Outside Edge, I
look forward to working with Ricardo as we grow our capacity to create cutting edge
theatre and widen the impact of our unique participation workshops to support more
people overcome substance misuse.”
